1. iRobot Roomba i3+ EVO
The i3+ EVO and its sibling, the i3 EVO are the same robots, but they differ in that the i3+ has self-emptying features. This makes the i3+ a good option for those looking for an entirely automated, hands-free cleaning experience but don't mind manually emptying their robot's dustbin as it gets full.
Both robots excel at cleaning up surface debris from carpets and hard floors and they're very adept in maneuvering around furniture and other obstacles. iAdapt navigation software makes smart maps of your home that aid the i3+ EVO navigate and clean in a way that maximizes efficiency. However, unlike the i7+ or other top-rated robots we tested the i3+ doesn't have any obstacle-avoidance features which means it can get stuck on things like socks or power cords, and it may have trouble in navigating through transitions between surfaces, such as from hardwood to rug.
iRobot recommends you clear out areas where the i3+ EVO will vacuum prior to when you use it, and include getting rid of any clutter or toys it may come across. It's also recommended to keep the dustbin and filter clear so they don't become clogged with dirt. If the i3+'s internal bin is empty or the battery is not fully charged, it returns to the docking station, and it automatically takes the dirt out of the docking station's dust bin. It then continues cleaning where it began. The battery's lifespan is around an hour and a half of constant usage. It takes about three hours to charge.
2. iRobot i7+ Roomba
The iRobot Roomba i7+ is the most powerful model in iRobot's flagship line, and it has the most up-to-date features. It's self-charging, self-navigating, and the most crucial feature of all -- it comes with a self-emptying dustbin that eliminates one of the main sources of maintenance for any robot vacuum.
The Roomba I7+ is able to map rooms more efficiently with Imprint Smart Mapping. It also works with iRobot Home to schedule cleaning tasks, and you can direct your robot using the app or voice.
In our tests the i7+ performed quicker and more maneuverable than our second-placed model, the eufy RoboVac G30, and it took large pieces of pet hair from all surface kinds, including carpeting. Its biggest advantage over the eufy it self-empties its dust bin that eliminates a major cause of maintenance and lowers the amount of time spent cleaning.
We were also awestruck by the i7+'s compatibility with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant AI services that we used to instruct the robot to start, stop or pause its cleaning session, move itself around the room and sweep the area. The iRobot Home App made it easy to connect the i7+ with these services. We were able, once connected, to voice commands to the i7+ for example "Hey Alexa vacuum the master bedroom." The iRobot Home App also offers options to manage i7+ settings and monitoring the performance.
3. Dyson Cyclone V10
This tiny Dyson model is an athletic car in a world of cordless vacuums that feel like minivans and buses. It is powerful enough to replace a traditional stand-up vacuum in most homes, but also small enough to fit on the bookcase or coffee table.
The V10 is powered by seven cells of energy-dense Lithium-ion batteries that produces power that is not fading for 60 minutes. The advanced whole-machine filter system traps allergens, then lets cleaner air into your home. Its cleaning head is specially designed and drives bristles of nylon that are stiff and deep into carpets to trap large crumbs and fine dust. It comes with three suction settings to suit the task at hand. It quickly converts from handheld vacuum to floor vacuum, and then back to floor.
The model also comes with an accessory dock that can charge to 100% in around 3.5 hours, and gives users an easy access to two attachments as well as the wand clip. This is a big improvement over older Dysons, that require a long charge and are difficult to store.
The main issue with the V10 is its short running time. As CR's tests show, its advertising claims of up to 60 minutes are a bit misleading. This is an average and not a remarkable run time for the battery-powered cordless vacuum. This is enough time to vacuum the typical home however, it's not enough time to reach every spot. (A second time usually works). However, this model isn't a good choice: It's lighter and mobile than the older cordless Dysons and its vacuuming performance is noticeably better on low-pile carpet.
4. iRobot Roomba 694
One of the most well-known robot vacuums The 694 is an affordable model that's a good choice for people who don't wish to spend too much on a robotic. It was able to remove all kinds of debris and sizes during our testing and often went over the same area many times for a thorough clean. Its flat front allows it to reach the corners and edges of walls.
Its navigation system is smart and uses iAdapt to avoid obstacles and navigate around your home, but it's not equipped with the mapping capabilities of more sophisticated models like our top picks and the i3+ EVO and the j7+ series. It is prone to getting stuck on phone cords or furniture and often runs out of power before returning to its home base.
The Xiaomi Mi robot is superior in many ways over the Roomba 694, as it has fewer parts that require regular cleaning, is equipped with an allergen-trapping HEPA filtration system, incurs lower cost of recurring costs and is more sophisticated in its automation capabilities and is able to better navigate its own. It also has a bigger dustbin and charges faster.
The sleek RoboVac X8 has a superior battery life than the Roomba. It also comes with physical boundaries strips that can be controlled by your smartphone's voice assistance. It's also more robust, has a larger motor, and performs better on floors with bare or low-pile.
5. Samsung Jet Bot AI+
Samsung is a well-known brand in the field of home electronics. It's no surprise that they are one of the top makers of robot vacuums and mop. Their Jet Bot AI+ is equipped with cutting-edge onboard technology for navigation and obstacle avoidance.
The app offers a wide range of options to customize your robotic cleaner. These include virtual barriers, mopping levels and behavior modifications docking frequency settings, and more. It's easy to comprehend and easy to use, just as is the case with other Samsung devices.
In our tests in our tests, the Jet Bot AI+ performed well on hard floors, and cleaned up 86 percent of dog hair (on carpet). The app allows you to alter the LED lights on the top of the vacuum to determine where it is focused or if it has gotten stuck.
The app makes it possible to steer the robot manually when needed. My living room rug for instance is darkly colored that could cause trouble for other robots.
